Samurai sword and jo staff are based on the following four traditional Japanese sword arts:
Aiki no Ken
Iaido
Kendo
Yagyu Shinkage Ryu
Iaido is the path to self-perfection. Iadio is the art of classical Japanese swordsmanship. It involves the techniques of drawing, cutting with and returning the Japnese sword to its scabbard. The quality of Iaido movement is graceful and relaxed, yet powerful and decisive.
Kendo means the way of the sword. Kendo is a sport-based discipline, based on the ancient Japanese art of sword fighting. The goal of Kendo is "to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of the katana."
Yagyu Shinkage Ryu is one of the oldest Japnese sword fighting styles. The aim of which is not just to be of great skill at sword fighting, but to build a great spirit.
